Introduction

Hello there! I am a first year doctoral student at the Affective Computing Lab at the University of South Florida under the supervision of Prof. Shaun Canavan

My research interests include:

  • Affective Computing: Analysing affective components in humans which includes emotions, expressions, action units using various modalities.
  • ML/Deep Learning: Utilizing the capabilites of flow-based models to explore the latent space of the affective components.
  • Biometrics: Continuous authentication and facial recognition of mobile users.

Education and Work Experience

  • I completed my undergrad in Computer Science and Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University.
  • I am currently pursuing my MS+PhD program in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of South Florida.
  • I worked as a Technology Analyst from 2015-2019 at Infosys Ltd in Mysore, India.

Research

  • Computer Vision/Deep Learning

The first leg of my research plan includes developing a method of classification using flow-based models. Flow-based models are a class of generative models that has the potential to perform supervised/semi-supervised classification tasks. My first on-going work explores the possibility of reducing the input set to a set of Gaussian clusters (with k classes).

  • Affective Computing

Utilising the capacity of flow-based models to analyse its performance in the affective computing domain. The need for explainability supercedes the SOTA performance in affective computing and therefore a tractable latent space will provide greater insights.

  • Biometrics

Continuous authentication on mobile devices using unstructured modalities like physiological signals, EEG etc. The work also aims at efficient inference for facial recognition for a high number of classes.
